Young Sports Good Sports

For some kids with autism trying new things can be hard. Adapting to new environments, communicating with others and knowing how to act and what to do can be a challenge but that doesn’t mean kids with autism can’t play or don’t want to, it just means they need to be encouraged and supported to have a go.

Young Sports Good Sports is a project developed by South West Sport in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria to support children with autism to get into footy, netball and basketball as early as possible so they can learn the game, develop their skills and confidence and make new friends. South West Sport’s information brochures and other resources can be adapted for all sports and used by other Access for All Abilities providers who want to run a similar program for children with autism within clubs in their area.
