2017 SWG reports
The South West Games are regional Victoria’s premier multi-sport event running since 1983.
In 2017 the Games were hosted by Corangamite Shire.
The 2017 Federation University Australia South West Games hosted by the Corangamite Shire saw 63 events staged with 4834 participants. The majority of the events were conducted within Corangamite municipality, however events were also held across the South West region.
The first information and registration night for the 2017 Federation University Australia South West Games was held in Camperdown on Wednesday 28th June 2017 at the Killara Centre, Manifold St, Camperdown.
All Corangamite Shire sporting clubs were ecouraged to run events. To view the list of sports thayt were registered click on the following link: Sports List
South West Sport hosted monthly meetings in Camperdown in the run up to the South West Games. These meetings provided an opportunity for the sports directors to be informed of what was happening with the organisation of the Games and what the administrative requirements were for the Sports.
The meetings were held on the 26th Jul, 30th Aug, 27th Sept and 18th Oct and a meeting following the Games was held on 6th December at 6:30pm at the Killara Centre, Manifold St, Camperdown.
Opening Ceremony & Dinner
The Opening Ceremony on Saturday 28th October, with a function for Sports Directors, Sponsors and invited Guests the night before (Friday 27th October) were held at the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club.
Corangamite Shire – iwas the host municipality of the 2017 South West
Games for the 35th staging of the event.
