About Us

South West Sport (formerly Glenelg & South West Sports Assembly) was founded in 1985, and is a not-for-profit incorporated association; with a membership primarily consisting of sporting and recreational organisations.

With an office located in Warrnambool; South West Sport services the entire South West region in Victoria.

South West Sport is governed by a Board of Management made up of representatives nominated by member organisations from all 5 sub-regions of the South West of Victoria.

The Board of Management employs an Executive Officer, as well as a Team Leader who oversees all other paid staff. The South West Sport’s team has a depth of knowledge in community sport, programming and Club development.

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to participate in sport and recreation.

Marc Tims – Executive Officer

As the Executive Officer, Marc leads the team to deliver high-quality service and support in the South West region through participation in community sport and the active recreation sector. Marc aspires to bring innovation and a professional approach to support our people, our partners, and our communities.

Helen McArthur – Team Leader – Programs
As the Team Leader – Programs, Helen oversees all programs at South West Sport. Helen also looks after the Access for all Abilities program, working with local clubs and associations to grow capacity and diversity in their programs and ensure that there are opportunities for people with a disability to participate in sport & active recreation in the South West.

Nick Marshall – Program Officer
As a Program Officer, Nick is responsible for Club Development which involves assisting local sporting clubs with aspects of governance, volunteer support, participation planning, and strategic planning. Nick can also offer guidance and advice to clubs submitting grant applications. Nick’s key objective is to help strengthen and grow a club’s capacity so that they can provide quality sporting opportunities to their respective community.

Ashleigh Glennon – Program Officer
As a Program Officer at South West Sport, Ashleigh is responsible for delivering VicHealth’s Regional Sports Program. This role is focused on increasing youth participation in sport and active recreation, removing barriers to participation, and creating inclusive sport and recreation environments in the South West.

Ashleigh is also responsible for the Warrnambool Accessibility Project, a co-design strategic planning project focused on reimagining how our community and service providers can create enabling sport and recreation environments and sustainable participation opportunities for people with a disability.

Edgar Guerrero – Administration, Communication and Events Officer

Edgar plays a key role within the organisation communicating our important work to the South West community through our website, social media and e-news. Edgar is also responsible for the delivery of South West Sport events including the South West Games, Sports Star awards and delivery of the ‘Tackle Your Feelings’ free mental health training program.
