Celebrate IDAHOBIT Day

May 17th is IDAHOBIT Day, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia.

It’s a day to celebrate LGBTIQA+ people within our communities as well as being a day to raise awareness of the discrimination that the community still experiences.

There are many ways in which your club can take part in IDAHOBIT day and work towards creating a more inclusive club environment, where people from the LGBTIQA+ community feel more welcome and included.

Have you thought about hosting an event, raising awareness through your clubs social media, upskilling your club with LGBTIQA+ training, or wearing it rainbow for the day.

All of this goes toward making the LGBTIQA+ community feel seen, acknowledged, and included.

Your club can visit the Resources Hub at Proud 2 Play, here you will find many resources to assist your club in being more inclusive of the LGBTIQA+ community. Resources include e-learning modules, inclusion checklists, tip sheets and posters. If your club needs assistance to implement any of these resources reach out to South West Sport for support.

Don’t forget to tag @southwestsportvic and #IDAHOBIT in your club’s celebrations.
