Corangamite – Recreation Give It A Go! Call for Activities

Corangamite smallClubs wanting to promote their sport or activity and attract new members are invited to register to be part of the Recreation Give It A Go! 2015 program. Expressions of interest were now open and encouraged local groups to apply.

Recreation Give It A Go! hosted over 80 events last year involving 60 clubs and sporting organisations.  In 2014 over 3000 people participated in activities across the three weeks.

Corangamite Shire Recreation Development Officer, Jarrod Woff said “It is a great opportunity for clubs and groups to attract new members and help contribute to a healthier region,”

“It’s a really varied program including physical activities like fun runs and triathlons, but also hobby-based activities such as bridge,” he said

Mr Woff said “The Council will again be funding Recreation Give it a Go! with a limited amount of funding available to groups to help conduct their event. The three weeks of activities aims to increase the number of residents involved in sport and recreation by encouraging all ages and abilities to get involved.”

“Also the promotion and the fitness, health and social benefits of participation is paramount to the outcomes of the program,” Jarrod said.
