Reshape Our Future conference

This week South West Sports attended the Reshape Our Future conference.

The Reshape our Future conference was a 2-day online Youth Sector Conference, presented by Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic). This was an opportunity to upskill South West Sport staff in youth engagement, and provided a platform for us to learn from young people, youth officers, policy makers and decision makers how we can play our part in reshaping the future with young people.

As part of VicHealth’s Regional Sports Program, South West Sport has a focus on increasing participation of young people aged 0-25, with an aim to get more people more active and to remove barriers to participation.

We are looking to engage with young people across the South West, to help us shape the future of youth participation in the region, as well as working closely with sports clubs and community organisations to create more opportunities for young people to be physically active.

South West Sport has established a youth reference group, our ‘Youth in Sport Team’. If you are a young person in the South West who has a passion for sport and active living, click the link and register your interest.

The Youth in Sport Team, is an opportunity for young people to share their opinions on physical activity participation in the region and be involved in the design, planning and implementation of physical activity initiatives for young people.

It is also an opportunity to not only have your voice heard but to be upskilled in the community sport sector, to set yourself up for leadership roles within your club and community setting.

If you know an amazing young person, let them know.

We are also interested in hearing from sports clubs who want to improve their offerings for young people. If you are looking to engage more young people in your club or to create new opportunities for young people to be active, reach out to our Program Officer Ashleigh at for support.
