Great South Coast Sport & Recreation Network – Fair Access Policy Roadshow

Talking all things Fair Access and UsePolicy today in Warrnambool.

We were thrilled to be able to workalongside the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation (OWSR) team toco-facilitate today’s Fair Access Roadshow session for our region, as part ofour quarterly Great South Coast Sport & Recreation Network meeting.

Launched by the Minister for Community Sport in 2022, Victoria’sFair Access Policy Roadmap is an Australian-first, aiming to develop astate-wide foundation to improve the access to, and use of, community sportsinfrastructure for women and girls.

The full-day workshops will focus on building the capacity andconfidence of each local government in their locally relevant approach to the roadmap, ensuring that no one is left behind on the Fair Access journey.

It was great to see such strong representation with all localgovernments across the south west in attendance for today’s session.

Not only bringing together the GSC Sport & Rec Network, butmany staff from across council departments, representatives from VicHealth and Sport& Recreation Victoria, and our Prevention Through Sport project partnersWomen’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West.

We’re looking forward to working with and supporting our localgovernment partners across the region in their fair access journey, and areexcited for the transformative potential it has for gender equity in sport forour region.

This workshop was the third stop on the roadshow, with ten moreworkshops being delivered right across the state over the months of March andApril, thanks to a partnership between Regional Sport Victoria and OWSR.
