Community Sport: An Equal Playing Field

Thanks to funding support from the Victorian Government South West Sport is taking a whole of sport approach to prevention of violence against women through sport within our local sporting communities to promote and progress gender equity within sport and it is starting within our own organisation as we work to implement Our Watch’s Equality & Respect in Sport Standards.

We’ve upskilled our staff through training and capacity building activities, and transformed our internal policies and ways of working, to ensure gender equity is at the forefront of our thinking. Including participating in a whole of org training day delivered by Women’s Health and Wellbeing.

By challenging gender inequality in community sport, we can create inclusive, equitable, healthy, and safe environments for women, men, girls, boys, and gender diverse people. This helps to prevent violence against women.
